“This Way To The A.T. (Walasi-Yi, GA)”

This Way To The A.T. by Holly Bird

Linoleum block print, hand-colored in watercolor; 11.5″ x 4.5″. This view is familiar to any through-hiker veteran of the Appalachian Trail. Looking out from the back porch of Mountain Crossings outfitter at the Walasi-Yi Interpretive Center, across Neels Gap in Georgia. Walasi-Yi is the first real stop for northbound thru-hikers, about 30 miles along the Trail north of the southern terminus of the A.T. at Springer Mountain. The trail runs right through the old 1930’s CCC stone building. 2009.
